SketchUp EXTENSION INTRO AND TUTORIAL – Curic Space
In this week’s SketchUp extension of the week, check out Curic Space – an extension designed to help you with spacing out your objects in SketchUp!
Curic Space for SketchUp Function Description
This extension basically gives you the ability to do 3 things
- Create Copies of Individual Objects
- Space objects based on the object centers
- Space objects based on the object origins
Copying Objects
You can create copies of objects using Curic space by selecting an individual object and clicking the curic space button. If you have only one object selected, the extension will then ask you how many copies you want to create. Once you’ve created your copies, they’re all inserted at the same point, so you’ll have to use Curic Space to space them out.
Spacing Objects Based on Centers
Curic space gives you the option to space out objects based on the object centers. This will basically find the center of whatever objects you have selected, then space every object along an axis or direction you select. You can type in a numberical value and hit the enter key to space your objects. Note that you can enter a different value and hit the enter key to try different spacings as long as the tool is active.
Spacing Objects Based on Origin
Sometimes, you don’t want to space your objects based on the object centers. Curic space also gives you the option to space based on the object origin (or the point where the axes in the group intersect). This can be useful when you’re dealing with objects that aren’t the same width.
